Ceramic painting

The joys of ceramic painting

Ceramic painting is all about fun and creativity. There's nothing better than spending a few hours painting your own little masterpiece on a plate, figurine, money box, whatever it may be.

Not that you need to be particularly artistic or experienced in this area, it's often the people who are ceramic painting for the first time who get the most pleasure out of it. You can be as careful or as messy as you like, use many different colours or just 15 shades of brown – it really is up to you!

What you create doesn't have to be personal to you either – you could create something intended as a gift, maybe a plate with a wedding anniversary scrolled on it, or the handprint of a baby for their favourite auntie's birthday.

If you're struggling for inspiration, don't be afraid of asking for tips from one of our friendly ceramic painting experts, who are on hand to give advice and guidance.

And then there's the wait. Somehow, once your item has been glazed and fired, it looks a hundred times better than you remember it being. "Are you sure that's mine?" people often ask, before walking out of the shop beaming with pride.

Ceramic painting isn't top of everyone's list when thinking about what to do on a rainy day, but for very little expense it’s the perfect way to unleash the artist in you, your children, friends, and even your other half!

So, when the kids are grumbling about being bored or you’re thinking of somewhere different to take your friends, come and have a go at ceramic painting – it's more fun than you think!
